Letter written by Joseph Moore to Mr. Sutro on Risdon Iron and Locomotive Works stationary telling him that Mr. Sharon had agreed to sell two water engines for $50.00 "provided the smallest one is still at the hotel."

Note:

Joseph Moore (1829-1901) was a 49er and was involved in engineering, manufacturing, and mining in California and Nevada. At one point he was superintendent of the Risdon Iron and Locomotive Works.
The Risdon Iron Works, later the Risdon Iron and Locomotive Works, was founded by John Risdon, William Ware, and James Coffee. The factory was located at Potrero Point in San Francisco and became one of the leading manufacturers of boilers and heavy railroad equipment on the West Coast. The Risdon plant was eventually bought by the neighboring Union Iron Works.
