Abstract:

Holograph letter written and signed by I. A. Terry to J. I. Frost in Monroe, Michigan about a letter from Vera-Cruz that claims an extra session of the Mexican Congress has been called to consider the affairs of Texas and the United States and a declaration of war will be the result. The Vera-Cruz letter also indicates that orders have been given to the Commander-in-chief to march 7,000 troops to San Luis Potosi and inhabitants of Vera-Cruz have covered their roofs in anticipation of bombardment if the annexation of Mexico is consummated. Terry's letter states that a convention was held on July 4th at Washington, Texas, the annexation was consummated, and 2,000 U. S. troops have left Corpus Christ[i], Texas to protect the frontier.
