Note:
Samuel L. Denison was a San Francisco businessman involved with financing the Mexican government. Apparently he took part
in the rise to power of General Alvarez, Benito Juarez and Ignazio Comonfort. At the time of the writing of these letters
he has gone to Mexico City to press his unpaid claim of $170,000.
