Archive of Harry W. Crosby's photographs pertaining to his travels throughout Mexico, containing portraits, views and everyday
scenes taken in various locations, including Sonora, Sinaloa, Jalisco, Baja California, Colima, Nayarit, Michoacán, Chihuahua,
Zacatecas, Durango, Guanajuato, Pinacate, Trincheras, Batuc, Los Alamos and elsewhere. Broad range of subject matter includes
individuals and families, social events, landscapes, urban views, architecture, animals, traditional artisans and handicraft,
among other topics. Photograph album (vol. 1) contains a representative selection of highlights of Crosby's photography in
Mexico. Contact prints (PIC box 1), representing only a small percentage of the negatives present in collection, contain images
of various locations, and also include files for "San Diego" and "Portraits". Slides (LAN box 1) contain images taken in the
regions of Lake Patzcuaro, Uruapan, Jalisco, Guanajuato (including Hacienda Belloli), Zacatecas, Mexico City, Sinaloa, Acamos
and Sonora.

Harry W. Crosby: born 1926 in Seattle, Washington; family moved to La Jolla, California in 1935; graduated La Jolla High School
in 1944; studied pre-med and psychology at Occidental College; worked as a science teacher until 1967, when he became a professional
photographer upon being hired to illustrate book Call to California, on Portolá's 1769 expedition; later became a published
scholar of cave paintings of Baja California and of the early history of Alta California.
