Creator/Contributor:

Maas, Carlos J., creator

Abstract:

The bound volume contains 64 prints, including ten in color, which document the family and friends of Carlos Josua Maas, Jr. from 1948 to 1951. The album depicts events such as holiday gatherings, a Christmas play at Hamlin School in 1948, a family trip to Europe in 1948, a baseball game between San Francisco Seals and Seattle in 1949, a trip to the San Francisco Zoo, and a wedding. Some photographs feature the home of the Maas family at 2312 Pacific Avenue in Pacific Heights and family members including Carlos J. Maas, Sr., Roberta Maas, Diana Maas, and Mrs. Ida Maas. Hand-written captions accompany most photographs. The black album cover reads "Kodak Memories Album" and "'Carlos J. Maas' ('Photographer') of Album "Hello'" is written on the inside front cover. The prints are attached to the album pages with white stickers or clear tape except for one loose print. The album also includes four loose newspaper clippings from the San Francisco Call-Bulletin, the San Francisco News, and the San Francisco Examiner between 1953 and 1955, as well as a letter from Frank McDonald to Mr. and Mrs. Maas in 1966.
