John Albert McIntire came to California in 1856 and joined his father in mining gold at Sutter Creek, Amador County. In 1864
he moved to Sacramento and began working for the firm of Newton Booth and Company, importers and wholesale grocers. Later
he became the firm's president. In 1892, on the death of Newton Booth, he sold the business for the heirs and became interested
in Amador County mining affairs. He died November 2, 1931.
