Note:
Patrick William Riordan (1841-1914) was a Canadian-born clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church, and served as Archbishop of
San Francisco from 1884 to 1914.
Eglise Notre Dame des Victoires is a Roman Catholic church in San Francisco, founded in 1856 to serve French Catholic immigrants
during the Gold Rush. The architectural model for the church is the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourviere in Lyon, France. In
1887 Pope Leo XIII signed a decree placing Eglise Notre Dame des Victoires under charge of the Marists and designating it
a French National Church. The structure burned in the 1906 fire, was reconstructed and rededicated in 1915, and was designated
a historical landmark in 1984.
