Note:

Augustus Allen Stickney (1833-1880) was born in New York, came to California, and settled in San Francisco. He became part owner of the San Francsco newspaper "The Californian," and as such became friends with Mark Twain, Bret Harte, and Henry George. Stickney was editor and publisher of the "Alaska Herald" from 1873 to 1877, was president of the Typographical Union in San Francisco, and was also employed by the California State Printing Office in Sacramento. Stickney married Belzora Ross Clark.
Edgar Allen Stickney (1872-1953) was the son of Augustus and Belzora Stickney, graduated from U.C. Berkeley and, like his father, worked at the California State Printing Office and served as president of the Typographical Union. He was also a professional photographer in Sacramento, and a published author and songwriter. Stickney married Isabelle Stargel on July 7, 1906.
