Abstract:
Includes 25 photographs of people at San Francisco amusement park Playland at the Beach, likely taken in the 1960s and/or
early 1970s. Most images depict couples or larger groups posing while visiting various rides and attractions. Many images
depict African Americans; some depict apparently mixed-race couples. Also includes 11 larger format prints taken in Los Angles
and other locations in Southern California approximately in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with subjects including Olympic
Boulevard bridge, First Street bridge, Tenth Street overpass, crowds at Venice Beach boardwalk and Hollywood Boulevard Walk
of Fame, a model at the L.A. Auto Show, custom painting of a woman in lingerie on the hood of a pick-up truck, window display
of a pompadour wig, and fairs in Lancaster, Pomona and an unidentified location.
