STRS kept bill analyses for bills pertaining to its own administration or other topics of special interest to teachers. Some examples include changes in the disability allowance program, changes in the survivor benefits division, annual allowance increases for retirees, the composition of the STRS board, investment strategies of STRS and home loan programs for teachers.

The subject files of the California State Teachers' Retirement System include information on its method of organization, rules, and benefits it gives to its members. Included in the files are correspondence, pamphlets, newspaper articles, meeting minutes and proposals for changes in STRS structure and benefits. Financial records are also prominent in these files, especially investment records.
