Papers of socialist organizations and individuals are the major strength of the Tamiment Collection. This archive's origins are deeply rooted in the Socialist Party of Eugene Debs and in the New York labor movement of the early part of the twentieth century.

Acquisition Information

The Social Protest Collection was originally known as the Social Protest Project until 1986. The collection was gathered under the auspices of the University of California Berkeley Undergraduate Library and later transferred to the custody of the Collection Development Office. The Bancroft Library acquired the collection in 1972.
