Scope and Content

These records of an insurance company, purchased from Holmes Books on July 22, 1969, include letterpress copy books, incoming letters and orders and ledgers.

Also included among these records are correspondence, accounts and legal papers of Jules Nicolas Fricot, father-in-law of G. A. Berton; papers of his son, Désiré Jules Fricot, relating mainly to mining property in Calaveras and Nevada Counties and to real estate in San Francisco (6 boxes); and correspondence and manuscripts of writings of Berton's son, Francis Jules (1 box and 2 v.).

Incoming letters and orders re insurance policies, with notes re renewals and copies of some outgoing letters, etc., 1906-1934. These records were arranged alphabetically within each year, and this arrangement was kept, with no attempt at further processing. There are no files for 1908, 1917, 1923-1924, and 1926-1927. Some miscellaneous papers belonging to G. A. Berton have been placed at the end of carton 17.
