Abstract: Fernand Baldensperger (1871-1958) was a professor who taught at the University of Nancy (1894), the University of Lyon (1900-10), the University of Paris (1910-35), Harvard (1935-40) and UCLA (1940-45). The collection consists of offprints of articles, several parts of galleys, and the typescript draft of Baldensperger's La critique et l'histoire littéraire en France aux dix-neuvième du vingtième siècles (1945).

Biography

Baldensperger was born on May 4, 1871 in Saint-Die, France; BL, College de la ville de Saint-Die, 1888; Lic. Lettres, University of Nancy, 1890; Doct. Lettres, University of Paris, 1899; assistant professor, University of Nancy, 1894; professor, University of Lyon, 1900-10; assistant professor and professor, University of Paris, 1910-35; taught at Harvard, 1935-40, and UCLA, 1940-45; publications include Goethe en France: étude de littérature comparée (1904), Le mouvement des idées dans l'émigration Française (1789-1815) (c1924), and Orientations étrangères chez Honoré de Balzac (1927); he died in 1958.

Collection consists of offprints of articles, several parts of galleys, and the typescript draft of Baldensperger's La critique et l'histoire littéraire en France aux dix-neuvième du vingtième siècles (1945), written in collaboration with H.S. Craig, Jr.
