    Business and personal papers of Stanley Hiller, Sr. The collection includes some of Stanley Hiller, Jr.'s papers concerning two of his inventions: a new type of die-casting process and the first practical coaxial helicopter. A separate key to the arrangement of the collection and subject index to the key have been compiled by California State Library staff.     Biography

    Born in Alameda, California, September 3, 1888, Stanley Hiller, Sr. was an inventor, and manufacturer of machinery and plants for processing food by-products, including the first seagoing fish processing plants (1927); a California land developer (1930-1955); commercial fisheries lobbyist (1934-1938); and early aviator. He died in Oakland, August 8, 1968.
