Description
Family papers including correspondence, greeting cards, business papers, newspaper clippings, diary, graduation and birth announcements, wedding invitations, Golden Sheaf Awards, deeds, naturalization paper, wills, newspapers, photographs, and genealogy notes.
Background
The Rusch and Volle families were pioneer residents of Citrus Heights, California. According to family records, Ernest Heinrich Volle and his family emigrated to the United States from Germany in 1846 and settled in Evansville, Illinois. In 1851 their son, (August) Frederick W. Volle married Julia Dora Heimroth, a native of Elberfeld, Germany. In 1853 Frederick and Julia journeyed to Sacramento, California by covered wagon. In 1858 they moved to Center Township (Citrus Heights, Calif.) and established a 480-acre ranch.
