History

Henry H. Haight was born in Rochester, N.Y., May 26, 1825. He graduated from Yale in 1844 and began practicing law. He came to California in January 1850. He served as a democratic governor from December 5, 1867 through December 7, 1871. Mr. Haight was also one of the Regents of the State University. He died of heart disease September 2, 1878, in San Francisco.
