Biography

In 1859, John T. Griffitts came to Sacramento and began working in the store of Charles Crocker. In 1860, he married Georgiana Root of New York. In 1863, he bought out Crocker's interest in the store. He and his wife were socially prominent in Sacramento for many years until Griffitt's death in 1898. Eva Griffitts was their daughter. She died in 1945 in Sacramento.
