Scope and Content Note

This series contains Lawrence's course notes from Harvard Medical School, which are written on five-by-eight-inch note cards. This series also includes course examinations and health-related pamphlets. Courses include: immunology, surgery, neurology, pediatrics, laryngology, obstetrics, otology, gynecology, ophthalmology, syphilology, psychiatry, dermatology, orthopedic surgery, pharmacology, and legal medicine.

Scope and Content Note

The bulk of this series is Lawrence's professional correspondence, although it does include some early personal correspondence from Lawrence's father and brother.
Correspondence is arranged chronologically. Within the chronological arrangement, Lawrence organized his correspondence alphabetically, usually by the surname of the correspondent, although occasionally it is filed under an institutional name or another topic.
Correspondence with notable individuals, written mainly during Lawrence's tenure as a Regent of the University of California (1970-1983), may be found at the end of the series, arranged alphabetically by correspondent's surname.
