The Lobner family came to California during the Gold Rush and settled in Colfax, Placer County, California, where they operated a general merchandise store. Principal family names, in addition to Lobner, include: Perkins, Soule and Harmon. Morris Lobner (1849-1917) was married to Jeannie Perkins (b. 1867). He was in San Francisco at the time of the Earthquake and Fire (1906) and wrote letters to his wife about the experience. These letters were published in the Pacific Historian 4:2 (May 1960). Other family information is contained in reminiscences and genealogical materials collected by Hope Lobner Cahill (b. 1894) and her sister, Joyce E. Lobner (b. 1891) through interviews with family members.
