Biographical Note
Charles (Rick) Scherer was an assistant professor of hydraulic and sanitary engineering at
the University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Los Angeles. He
graduated from Stanford University in 1966, where he also earned a M.S. degree in 1967. His
Ph.D., in environmental systems engineering, was from Cornell in 1973. He died of a heart
attack at age 35 in 1979.
