Biography

Dr. Newman was born in San Francisco on December 22, 1872, the son of William Joseph and Anna Newman. He received his education in San Francisco, his undergraduate degree from University of California, Berkeley, and his M.D. from the UCSF School of Medicine. He graduated in the class of 1896.
Dr. Newman did two years of postgraduate in Germany and Austria following his internship at San Francisco General Hospital. He was one of the first specialists in proctology on the West Coast.
In addition to his association with San Francisco General Hospital, Dr. Newman was on the staff of Mount Zion Hospital.

Scope and Content
