Scope and Content

This series documents the personal life of Fr. Arthur D. Spearman, S.J. Included are notes, clippings, correspondence, and financial records. The series contains documentation related to Fr. Spearman's work as a priest, including transcripts of invocations that he delivered, his ordination papers, as well as programs for events held in honor of Fr. Spearman, such as memorabilia from his golden jubilee. There is also material related to his education, including transcripts and diplomas. In addition, this series contains various articles that Fr. Spearman collected, which had been written about him.

Scope and Content

This series documents the family life of Fr. Arthur D. Spearman, S.J. through the correspondence, genealogical research and writings of various family members of Fr. Spearman. This series contains legal documents such as property records and wills. Of note are several examples of the literary activities of Spearman's family, including his mother, Eugenie Lonergan Spearman.

Scope and Content

This series documents Fr. Spearman's various research interests through clippings, articles, pamphlets, brochures, correspondence and other information he collected over the course of his career. Many of these files include Spearman's notes, which form the basis of articles he eventually published.

Scope and Content

This series contains oversize materials in various formats. It consists of posters, photographs, maps, certificates, drawings and illustrations. Of note are a caricature of Fr. Spearman drawn by Geronimo Schwartz; a hand-tinted engraving of what may have been the first airplane in 1843; and several maps of Santa Clara and San Jose designed by local graphic artist Ralph Rambo.
