Records for the period of August Vollmer's administration. Primarily Vollmer's correspondence with other law enforcement officers,
city officials, private organizations and government agencies, professional associations, and private individuals, relating
to all phases of the Department's operations, the introduction of reforms and modern technology, his interest in formal police
training, his consultation work, etc. Also included are "special and general orders" issued by Vollmer and some miscellaneous
papers including speeches and statements, budget data, etc. A small file of letters written by Vollmer's successors (1932-1951)
also in the collection.
