Biography/History
Mary Green Pauloo was a vocalist and was active in several music clubs in Los Angeles, most notably the Mary Carr Moore Manuscript
Club (later the Manuscript Club of Los Angeles) and The Dominant Music Club, of which Pauloo was a president. Pauloo and Mary
Carr Moore had a close personal and professional relationship, and Pauloo performed in Moore's operas, notably
Flutes of Jade Happiness,
David Rizzio, and
The Flaming Arrow, and performed her other compositions in concert. Pauloo personally knew many of the composers in this collection, who were
involved in musical competitions organized by the Manuscript Club or the Pauloos. Most of the sheet music manuscripts were
mailed to Pauloo and her husband by their composers, and bear personal inscriptions to Mary Green Pauloo.
Scope and Content
This collection consists primarily of published sheet music and composers' manuscripts. Also included are photographs, press
clippings, mailers, rosters, concert programs and other documentation generated by the Mary Car Moore Manuscript Club, or
involving Mary Carr Moore and Mary Green Pauloo, as well as some of Pauloo's personal papers and correspondence (particularly
with Mary Carr Moore). Much of the sheet music bears annotations and personal inscriptions to Mary Green Pauloo.
