Biography
Draper was a labor organizer, socialist and founder of Citizens for Farm Labor and Union
W.A.G.E. (Women's Alliance to Gain Equality), the first women's liberation group made up of
women trade unionists. The daughter of Polish immigrants, Draper graduated from Hunter
College, New York. A longtime member of the Independent Socialist League, she opposed the
Vietnam war from the 1950s onward.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of personal papers and correspondence, including correspondence
with labor union people; Christmas cards designed by Draper and her husband, Hal;
manuscripts of speeches given at her memorial services by local labor and political leaders;
newsletters and ephemera regarding legislation concerning women workers and Union
W.A.G.E.
