Scope and Content Note

Trip to Maine and Nova Scotia, with observations on the Micmac Indians of Nova Scotia. The rest of the volume consists mainly of his drawings of artifacts and pictographs at Oatman's Flat, Casa Grande, Camp MacDowell and Maricopa Wells, Arizona; notes on shell mounds in Berkeley, Calif and on Angel Island in San Francisco Bay; and drawings of artifacts in Alaska and in Puerto Rico.

Scope and Content Note

Travels in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Included is a description of the Cowitchan Indian Mission at Vancouver Island. Written from the back of the volume, is the diary of his excursion from Papeete to the Paumotu Islands, June 9-18, 1877.

Scope and Content Note

Travels from France to the West Indies (Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Cuba and Jamaica), Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, and voyage to Tahiti. Written from the back of the volume, is a diary of his trip to the Easter Island, April 1877, notes on the Island, sketches of artifacts and sketches of Pisco Bay, Peru.

Sketches made on his trip in Sonora, Mexico. 1876-1879

Scope and Content Note

Volume 18 contains drawings of churches, village scenes, artifacts and a manuscript map. Volume 19 consists mainly of drawings of rock formations, churches and mountain ranges.
