    Biographical note

    Andrew Harlis Horn (b. 1914 - d. 1983)
    Andrew Horn was a member of the library staff at UCLA from 1948 to 1954 and served as the Assistant Head and Head of the Department of Special Collections, University Archivist, and Assistant University Librarian. From 1952-1954, he was the Associate University Librarian.
    In 1954 he became University Librarian and Professor of Librarianship at the University of North Carolina. Horn returned to Southern California in 1957 to be the College Librarian of Occidental College in Pasadena, CA.
    In 1959, Horn was asked to return to UCLA to help Lawrence Clark Powell organize a School of Library Service (later known as the Library and Information Studies School, and the UCLA Graduate School of Library and Information Science). He served as Dean of the UCLA Graduate School of Library and Information Science from 1966 to 1974. He retired in 1978 and became Dean Emeritus. Horn continued to teach classes in letterpress printing at the School until 1982.
