Correspondence, account books, legal papers, express and shipping receipts, Spanish and Mexican documents relating to mines in lower California.
Background
Ephraim W. Morse was born in Amesbury, Mass., October 16, 1823. He arrived in San Francisco July 5, 1849, mined for a short time then moved to San Diego where he was in the general merchandise business. In 1869 he moved from Old San Diego to New Town. His first wife was Lydia A. Gray and his second wife was Mary C. Walker, a teacher. He died January 17, 1906.
