In a letter dated 1882 April 14, Rossetti writes thanking Ellis for his help, as he has been informed by Hall Caine. He also writes regarding a Rossetti Exhibition that was not approved by him.
In a letter dated 1882 April 16, Rossetti writes regarding his grief over his brother's death. He thanks Ellis for a loan of 300 pounds for related expenses as executor of the will, and promises to repay him when he has access to his brother's accounts. Rossetti also writes about the possibilty of a future collaboration on an exhibition related to his brother's works.
In a letter dated 1882 August 14, Rossetti writes Ellis to thank him and say that he is sending a check for 300 pounds. He notes the delay is due to waiting for the sale of his brother's house and a trip to recover from gout. He also asks for Ellis's interest in publishing his correspondence with his brother along with a short memoir and requests a copy of his brother's Poems. He notes that there were no English editions of any of his brother's books among his papers.

Rossetti discusses particulars of potentially publishing his brother's complete works with Ellis and his partner. Rossetti is interested in trade pricing and printing technique. Additionally, he wants confirmation that his memoir of his brother combined with their correspondence will be published.
Rossetti thanks him for his letters, and notes that he will have to consult Theodore Watts on the proposed postponement of the book of correspondence and memoirs.
Rossetti writes to say that he is "well disposed to the proposals made in your recent letter" and that they may begin drawing up legal documents. He plans to start arranging his brother's works immediately.
