Historical note

The Committee on Sites for the Southern Branch of the University was formed in 1923 by Regent Edward A. Dickson to assist the U.C. Regents in securing a new site for the campus. The committee consisted of 17 members of the greater Los Angeles community. It considered over 100 proposed sites between Santa Barbara and San Diego before settling on the current Westwood site in 1926.
