Biographical Note

Jesse Arthur Younger, born 11 April 1893, Albany, Oregon, graduated from the University of Washington at Seattle, 1915, and served in World War I. He was the representative from the 9th California Congressional District to the United States House of Representatives, 1953-1967. He died 20 June 1967.

Scope and Content

Correspondence, documents, and printed reference materials which form a written record of Younger's career in Washington, D.C. from 1964 until his death in 1967 and the election of his successor. Covers almost every aspect of his life and duties as well as showing his constituents' reactions and opinions to most of the major and local issues of the period.
