    Scope and Content

The Board of Admissions and Relations with Schools, a standing committee of the statewide Academic Senate, was established in 1920 as the Board of Admissions and Entrance Examinations, combing the duties of existing committees, the Committee on Credentials, the Committee on Admissions, the Committee on Special Students, and the Committee on Entrance Examinations.
The Board advises the Presidential and other Senate agencies on matters relating to the admission of undergraduate students. It also regulates the examination of applicants and the basis of acceptance of those examinations, maintains the standards of preparation of students entering from California secondary schools, requires secondary schools to submit for approval a list of those courses certified as fulfilling admissions requirements as well as those certified as honors level courses, and compiles information on curricula and scholarship standards in California secondary schools. It reports annually to the Assembly of the Academic Senate statistical information about students admitted to advanced status and scholastic achievement information about students admitted as freshman.
In addition to minutes of the Board's meetings, these bound volumes also contain statistical reports compiled by the Board and letters and memoranda to and from other University officials and offices concerning admission policies.
These volumes were transferred to the University Archives from the Office of the President in May 1987.
