Scope and Content

Collection consists of British catalogs from 1703-1930, the reference collection of English bookseller Frank Marcham, and various American book catalogs. An illustrated index to the British catalogs to 1900 is available, and the British Museum's List of catalogues of English book sales, 1676-1900, has been annotated with UCLA's holdings and location within the collection. Of American catalogs, there are files for Libbie, 1885-1919; Henkels, 1898-1935; Parke-Bernet, and others. Auction houses represented in the collection include American Art Association, American Book Auction, Anderson Galleries, Christie's, Charles Hamilton, Henkels, Libbie & Company, Park-Bernet, Sotheby Parke-Bernet & Company, and Swann.

Scope and Content Note

The British catalogues, 1703-1930, constitute the reference collection of the English bookseller, Frank Marcham. An illustrated index to the British catalogues to 1900 is available. The British Museum's List of Catalogues of English Book Sales, 1676-1900 has been annotated with UCLA's holdings, and location of each item within the collection.
The Library now subscribes to Sotheby's and Christie's auction catalogues.
Of American catalogues, there are files for Libbie, 1885-1919; Henkels, 1898-1935; Parke-Bernet, and others.
Many book auction catalogues are also catalogued in the Rare Book Catalog, Department of Special Collections.
