    Files and volumes as originally processed are numbered 1 through approximately 46, regardless of box number. Subsequent files added to collection are numbered in sequences for each box.

    Scope and Contents

    Collection of material primarily related to railroads, also containing printed material and ephemera about other forms of transport, including automobiles, passenger ships, and airplanes.
    One series contains dispatchers records from Beaumont and Los Angeles, California, as well as Mexicali, Baja California, covering the period 1936-1954. There are also many reports and plans concerning 19th century railroads in Great Britain, particularly the Midland Railroad, and engineering plans for bridge and tunnel projects, blueprints of Union Iron Works and gold dredge designs, and numerous brochures, timetables, ticket envelopes, luggage tags, and other small items.

    Conditions Governing Use

    While Special Collections is the owner of the physical and digital items, permission to examine collection materials is not an authorization to publish. These materials are made available for use in research, teaching, and private study. Any transmission or reproduction beyond that allowed by fair use requires permission from the owners of rights, heir(s) or assigns. Some of these materials are believed to be in the public domain. There are no restrictions on use of public domain materials.
