Merrill Joan Gerber, born 15 March 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, received a b.a. from University of Florida in 1959. In 1962
Gerber received a creative writing fellowship from Stanford University. Many of Gerber's short stories have been published
in magazines. The name used with this story was Merrill Spiro.
