Business papers and memorabilia.
Otis K. Freeman was born in or around 1836. He was employed as a purser for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company line for many
years. He first sailed at age twenty-one and had gone around the world one hundred times. He was the first white man to open
a steamship office in Japan and was in charge of the Pacific Mail office there for seventeen years. He died in San Francisco,
June 19, 1915.
