Scope and Content
The collection consists of family records and personal papers, including letters, news
clippings, and documents of Lois Gosney Castle Troendle, daughter of E. S. Gosney. The
family papers contain early biographical material on E. S. Gosney, including genealogical
records of the family and recollections of Gosney's early career as a lawyer and rancher
in Arizona and California. The personal papers of Lois Castle Troendle are mainly
concerned with her civic activities connected with increasing bonds of friendship between
Japan and America during the 1950s and 1960s in connection with a program called People
to People. There is also a significant amount of material related to Lois Gosney's
interest in equestrian matters, particularly a ceremony honoring Colonel Kido of the
Japanese Equestrian Team.
