Scope and Content
Milo Beyer Williams was born September 15, 1882 in Manly, Iowa. Graduating from Iowa State College in 1905, he began post graduate work in agricultural engineering at the University of California in 1906. Williams served in California from 1908 in various capacities for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, the State Land Settlement Board of California, the Marysville River Farms, and as a consulting Agricultural Engineeer. In 1934-35 he worked for the Federal Land Bank of Berkeley. In 1935 Williams was hired by the Resettlement Administration, Washington D.C. to oversee their projects in the western United States.
The collection primarily concerns Williams' work with the Resettlement Administration and includes correspondence about projects,
memoranda, reports, field notes, blueprints, and drawings. A few letters from his family, written to him while on business
trips for administration projects, is included in Series 1. A small amount of personal material, mostly about his own agricultural
holdings, is found in Series 3.
