Biography
Joseph Bennett Chaffee arrived in San Francisco June 6, 1850. He was elected constable of Salmon Falls, October 1850 and appointed
deputy sheriff, January 2, 1851. He left California for New York in April of 1853. He died December 29, 1882 at Binghamton,
New York.
