Robert Nathan was born January 2, 1894 in New York; published first novel in 1919 and first of ten volumes of poetry,
Youth Grows Old, in 1922; most popular novels include
One More Spring,
The Bishop's Wife, and
Portrait of Jennie, all of which were adapted to the screen; screenplays include
The Clock and
Pagan Love Song; stage plays include
Music at Evening and
Susan and the Stranger; died in Los Angeles, May 25, 1985.
