    Abstract: Thomas Tarō Higa, a Hawaiian-born Kibei, was born in 1916. He was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion. The collection consists of documents of Higa's speech tour (1944) sponsored by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), photocopies of newspaper articles written by Higa and a copy of a privately printed pamphlet by Yasusato Sadao on the clothing relief drive for Okinawa in Hawaii titled Hawai ni okeru Okinawa hifuku kysai und no dki to sono kiroku (1964). Materials in this collection are primarily in Japanese, with some in English.

    Biography

    Thomas Tarō Higa, a Hawaiian-born Kibei Nisei, was born in 1916; he was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion; between September 15th and December 10, 1944, Higa gave a speaking tour on the mainland sponsored by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL).

    Scope and Content

    Collection consists of documents of Higa's speaking tour (1944) sponsored by the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), photocopies of newspaper articles written by Higa in 1964, and a copy of a privately printed pamphlet by Yasusato Sadao on the clothing relief drive for Okinawa in Hawaii titled Hawai ni okeru Okinawa hifuku kysai und no dki to sono kiroku (1964).
