Abstract: The News Chronicle Collection is the image file of Thousand Oaks' local newspaper. The collection was donated by the Ventura County Star to the Thousand Oaks Library in 2001. There are over 100,000 images of local personalities, everyday life, and special events in the Conejo Valley.

Scope and Content of Collection

The News Chronicle Collection contains more 100,000 images of local personalities, everyday life, and special events in the Conejo Valley. The bulk of photos date from 1967 to 1994, with negatives continuing up to 2000. These images were primarily taken by staff photographers for the newspaper, and include negatives, slides, contact sheets and prints. Wherever possible, we have included the original caption for the photograph. The collection is in the process of being indexed in a database available in the Special Collections Reading Room.
