Scope and Content of Collection

The collection contains a boxed set of 42 Aladdin stereographs of Japan (including Japanese in Manchuria) and Russia, with printed captions in English and distributed by Doubleday Page & Co. (New York), 1901-1905. Included are images of Japanese military officers and troops, Hiroshima hospital, Russian prisoners of war in Japan, Mt. Fuji, Yokohama, Odawara, Nikko, Kyoto, Japanese villages, cemetery, rural and street scenes, and gardens; Japanese forces in Manchuria, scenes of Mukden and Dainy; Moscow, Kremlin and street scenes, Great Imperial Palace, Nikolskaja Gate, bell market at Nijni-Novgorod, and milkmaids of Kiev.
