    Abstract: The Media Resources Center is the UC Berkeley Library's primary collection of materials in electronic non-print (audio and visual) formats. These formats include: videocassettes; DVDs; compact audio discs; audiocassettes; and online (streamed) audio and video. The MRC collection is intended to support the broad range of study and research interests on campus. There are particularly strong holdings in humanities and social sciences materials, as well as a broad range of general interest materials in the fields of science and technology. MRC holdings also include a research-level collection of international cinema works, intended to support teaching and research in visual studies disciplines, such as film, as well as other social science and humanities fields.

    Collection available to UC faculty, students, and staff; valid outside researchers: one day access by prior arrangement.

    Publication Rights

    Most materials owned by Media Resources Center have been commercially acquired and rights remain with the copyright holder. A small portion of the collection has been locally produced and rights reside with the UC Regents.

    About the Media Resources Center

    The Media Resources Center (MRC) was established in 1979 as part of the Moffitt Undergraduate Library to support teaching, research, and study on the UC Berkeley campus. Since its inception, the MRC has grown into one of the largest media-based collections in a US academic library.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The Media Resources Center is the UC Berkeley Library's primary collection of materials in electronic non-print (audio and visual) formats. The MRC collection is intended to support the broad range of study and research interests on campus.
