Project Information

The materials represented in this project were collected over the years by the Dublin Historical Preservation Association and form the original core of the historical materials now housed in the Dublin Heritage Museum at 7100 Donlon Way in Dublin California. They have been digitized in order to provide broader 24/7 access to the rich historical record available on Dublin's history for students, teachers, local historians, business people, researchers and the Dublin community.
This project was part of the California Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP), a multi-year program supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
The project was a partnership between the City of Dublin Heritage Center and the Dublin branch of Alameda County Library. The Museum supplied the original photographs, the Library sent the photographs out for scanning by Northern Micrographics, reviewed the images for quality control and created metadata for 197 items.

Scope and Content of Collection

The local history collection consists primarily of newspaper clippings in a vertical file, a few books, newspaper microfilm that covers some years through the decades of the 1970's and 1980's; the high school yearbook and the clipping and photo albums collected by former Branch Librarian, Virginia Bennett, from about 1965 to 1979. The vertical file attempts to preserve local newspaper articles documenting the important events and trends impacting Dublin. The library also has photocopies of many of the photographs that were digitized for the California Local History Digital Resources Project (LHDRP) in conjunction with the Dublin Heritage Center.
