Abstract: Barry Moser (b.1940) is a graphic artist and printmaker. He has illustrated several books, including
Chelmaxions (1977),
Song of songs (1977),
Moby Dick (1978),
The divine comedy of Dante, Inferno (1980), and
Alice's adventures in wonderland (1982). The collection consists of 25 wood engraving blocks by Moser for
The Gold Rush (1985).

Biography
Moser was born on October 15, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee; became a graphic artist and printmaker; attended Auburn University;
studied with George Cress at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and with Leonard Baskin and Jack Coughlin; head of
studio art, Williston Northampton School (1967-82), and beginning in 1990, with the Rhode Island School of Design; exhibited
in one-man shows at the Berkshire Museum (1973) and the Boston Athenaeum (1976); also exhibited at the Los Angeles National
Print Show (1974) and the Library of Congress National Print Exhibit (1975-76); worked in ink and wood; member, American Printing
History Association, and winner of American Book Award; illustrated several books, including
Chelmaxions (1977),
Song of songs (1977),
Thistles & thorns (1977),
Moby Dick (1978),
The divine comedy of Dante, Inferno (1980),
Alice's adventures in wonderland (1982), and
Through the looking glass (1983).
Scope and Content
Collection consists of 25 wood engraving blocks by Barry Moser for
The Gold Rush (1985). The blocks are 10 × 18 cm. and portray gold mining activities from venues around the world. Pen and ink gouache drawings
and pencil sketches are also included in the collection.
