Background
Olin Wellborn was born on June 13, 1843 in Cumming, Georgia; graduated from Emory College, Oxford, Georgia in 1862; served
in the Confederate military; was a Democratic member of Congress for the 9th Texas district, 1879-87; was appointed U.S. district
judge for the Southern district of California in 1895; he died on December 6, 1921; his grandson, Olin Wellborn III, was born
in Los Angeles on July 15, 1896; AB, UC Berkeley, 1918; admitted to California bar in 1919, and practiced in Los Angeles;
became senior partner in the law firm of Wellborn, Barrett & Rodi; was director of Union Bank, Belridge Oil Company, and of
the Welfare Federation, Los Angeles; he died on September 10, 1965.
