    Administrative History

    The Scripps College Photographic Collection is an artificial collection of professional and amateur photographs from the college's founding in 1926 through the present. The collection is comprised of photographs donated to the school by faculty, students and alumni and can be located in the Ella Strong Denison Library. The collection is current and is still accruing photographs.

    Collection Scope and Content Summary

    The Scripps College Photographic Collection contains print photographs, negatives, and scrapbooks of the Scripps College campus, people associated with the college, events, academic life, and artwork.
    The largest series in the collection is in Series 3, People (1927-2003). The series contains images of faculty, students, alumni, campus visitors, trustees and donors. Other photographs of students and faculty can be found in Series 4, Academics and Student Life (1927-1993) and Series 6, Events (1927-1999).
    Photographs of the Scripps College Campus can be found in Series 1, Buildings (1927-2001) and Series 2, Gardens and Grounds (1927-2003). Series 5, Art Exhibits and Artwork (1935-1990) has photographs of art created by students and faculty members. More photographs of art and artwork can be found in the Williamson Gallery Archival Collection. Series 7, Bound Materials, is a small collection of undated scrapbooks.
