Biography
Trollope was born on April 24, 1815 in London, England; attended Winchester and Harrow; worked as a junior clerk in the General
Post Office and was then transferred as a postal surveyor to Ireland; in 1859 he moved back to London, resigning from the
civil service in 1867; stood unsuccessfully as a Liberal candidate for Parliament in 1868; became a novelist, known for his
Barsetshire and Palliser series of novels, among others; individual novels include:
Barchester Towers (1857),
Can you forgive her? (1865),
The Eustace diamonds (1873), and
The way we live now (1875); he died in London on December 6, 1882.

Collection consists of photostat copies of 932 extant letters by Anthony Trollope. They were used for the 1951 Oxford University
Press publication,
The letters of Anthony Trollope, edited by Bradford Allen Booth.
