Biographical/Historical Sketch
Vina Ranch in Butte County was one of the properties owned by Leland and Jane Stanford
that was part of the original endowment of Stanford University. In addition to fruits
and wines, the ranch also raised cattle and sheep. James Florent van Lobel Sels was the
ranch manager 1912-1917.
Collection includes three items: DURHAM LAND COLONY, BUTTE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA; A HISTORY
OF THE STATE LAND SETTLEMENT AT DURHAM 1917-1931, compiled by Adriana Farley and Marilyn
